Dear Oak Tree Home Owners,
The Oak Tree Home Owners Association was notified by Security this morning of an extremely serious and potentially deadly safety violation involving a vehicle registered to your address.
According to the report received by the HOA, a vehicle with a Resident decal, drove past a stopped school bus with its stop sign extended and flashing lights activated while the bus was picking up children at the intersection of Heritage Blvd. and Turnberry.
This conduct is unacceptable. Passing a stopped school bus while children are loading or unloading creates an immediate and potentially deadly danger. This incident could have resulted in a child being seriously injured or killed.
The HOA takes the safety of our children and all residents extremely seriously. Please speak immediately with all drivers in your household and ensure they understand that when a school bus is stopped with its red lights flashing and stop sign extended, they must stop and remain stopped as required by law.
We are extremely fortunate that this incident did not result in a tragedy. There can be no repeat of this behavior.
